Deposition
Deposition is the process in which sediment settles out of the water, and wind. This step occurs after the running water, wind, or ice slowly deposits the sediment into layers. Deposition is tied to the processes of weathering and erosion. Rocks are broken down into small pieces, which is known as weathering. Then the small pieces of dirt, sand, and rock are picked up by wind, running water, ice, and gravity which is known as erosion. When those sediments are left in a new place it is referred as deposition.
